Prof. Dr. Silvy Chakkalakal hat seit Sommer 2023 den Lehrstuhl für Populäre Literaturen und Medien am Institut für Sozialanthropologie und Empirische Kulturwissenschaft (ISEK) der Universität Zürich inne. Zuvor war sie Juniorprofessorin am Institut für Europäische Ethnologie (IfEE) und am Zentrum für transdiziplinäre Geschlechterstudien (ZtG) an der HU Berlin. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen Ästhetische Praxis, Historische Anthropologie, Anthropology of Time and Future und Ansätze der multimodalen Ethnografie und Bildgeschichte.
