Queere Theologie, die sich aus diesem Verständnis vom Queeren als kritischer Praxis ableitet, hat ihre Wurzeln nicht nur im Bereich der Queer Theory, sondern auch in der Tradition der Befreiungstheologie und der materialistischen Gesellschaftsanalyse. Theologie Queeren heißt, die Alternativlosigkeit von Denk-, Arbeits- und Lebensweisen zu überwinden. Das Queeren ist dabei kein Selbstzweck, sondern ein gemeinschaftliches Tun, das ein besseres Leben für alle anstrebt. Queere und materialistische Perspektiven gehen dabei Hand in Hand. In den transformativen queeren Theologien sind sie bereits in sich selbst zusammengedacht. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes folgen diesen Spuren, gehen aber auch selbst neue Wege que(e)rfeldein. “Queer” can be understood not only as something that one is, but also as something that one does: “queering”. Queer theology, which is derived from this understanding of queering as a critical practice, has its roots not only in the field of queer theory, but also in the tradition of liberation theology and materialist social analysis. Queering theology means overcoming the perceived non-alternativeness of ways of thinking, working and living. Queering is not an end in itself, but a collective endeavour that strives for a better life for all. In this, queer and materialist perspectives go hand in hand. In transformative queer theologies, they are already inherently conceived together. The contributions in this volume follow in these footsteps, but also break new ground themselves. The edited volume gives expression to the liberation theological dimension of queer theology, which can thus be understood not only as a concept of inclusion, but also as a critical academic approach.
