Steve Wilcox, PhD, is an associate professor of Game Design and Development in the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada. He has over a decade of experience using social and cognitive science to teach aspiring game designers how to design meaningful, memorable, and engaging analog and digital games. His accredited pro-social learning games are part of the continuing professional development programs administered by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. As a researcher Wilcox focuses on mobilizing knowledge through play, with publications on cognitive play and social cognition, play and persuasion, and game design as a form of intercultural communication.
