Christian Wilhelm ist Seniorprofessor für Algenbiotechnologie an der Universität Leipzig. Zuvor war er Professor für Pflanzenphysiologie, Direktor des Sächsischen Instituts für Angewandte Biotechnologie, Editor in Chief des Journal of Plant Physiology und Gutachter für nationale und internationale Forschungseinrichtungen auf dem Gebiet der Ökophysiologie der Pflanzen.
